＜アメリカ合衆国テキサス州で活躍するアスリートをレポートする地元の新聞社の記事より＞
"They're competitive," Steele said. "They all like to win medals, but they understand that sometimes they have to accept the ribbons. We remind them that no matter what they get, they're winners."
スティールはこう言いました。「彼らは競争するのが好きです。メダルを獲るのが好きですが、時にはリボンをもらわなければならないことを理解しています。私たちは彼らに、何を（メダルであれ、リボンであれ）もらったとしても、みんな勝者だということを言っています。」
The events also included a unified relay in which athletes were paired with volunteers to run. Some of the volunteers came with impressive credentials, such as Victor Cruz, a senior at Cooper High School who is the reigning 200-meter champion of District 3-5A.
種目の中には、アスリートとボランティアがペアになって走るユニファイドのリレーが含まれていました。共に走ったボランティアの中には３－５A地区の２００ｍのチャンピオンであるクーパー高校の３年生ビクター・クルズのような大きな業績を収めている人たちもいます。

Wright has participated in Special Olympics Missouri for 18 years. “Golf has changed his life,” according to his dad Dennis Wright. “To be able to get on a golf course with other people where he can feel accepted has built his self-esteem.”
ライトさんは１８年間SOミズーリに参加しています。父親のデニス・ライトはこう述べています。「ゴルフは彼の人生を変えてくれた。他の人たちと一緒にゴルフコースでプレイできることで、自分は受け入れられていると感じる事ができ、自尊心を築き上げてきたのです。」
